Oh the joys of growing grass.

I have never tried to grow grass before, and certainly not from scratch, I’ve always found it grows itself. My problem has always been, it grows a little too well.

So I had no idea that growing it from seed is about as exciting as watching paint dry. I bought my box of grass seed, and with the help of my next door neighbour prepared the ground, put the seed down, and then every evening waited for the sun to go down before giving it and the rest of the garden a good watering. The rain we have been promised has yet to show up and help, and every morning whilst drinking my first cup of tea of the day, I take a stroll around the area that will ( I hope) eventually have grass.

The box that the seeds came in says “Results in 7 days.” I think they forgot to tell the seeds that, but somehow the weeds knew, no sign of grass but the weeds are doing great.

I remember sewing grass. There was no sign of it for a while and then there it was all of a sudden. It will grow for you I'm sure.

Thank you Hywel for your words of encouragement. I watered the garden this evening and I do believe I can see grass growing. I suppose I am not the most patient of people, I plant something and expect to start seeing results right away.....lol.

I puchased a box of the 7day seed and it took at least 21 days to show any signs of growth but once started it has literally romped away and already had 2 haircuts........

We found the same thing over here last fall. Nothing for ages and then "poof" there it was.

Thank you Linclass.
It really helps knowing these things.
I suppose I am a bit impatient, I expected to see results within a couple of days or at least when the box stated I would see something.

I am however happy to report, I am seeing grass coming up at long last.

I like the idea of you giving your lawn a haircut...lol

Hi Gilli,

Thank you for your comment, I realise now that I have been a little too impatient, but I am happy to report the grass is starting to grow.
