Weekend walks and good news

The weather was fine on Saturday so Jim and I wrapped up warm and walked through the woodlands where we used to take Jake. I took my camera and took a few photos of our route.

On our way into Black Park

The stream that feeds the lake

At least there is some open water for the ducks, geese and other waterfowl

The lake is mainly frozen though, in places about 3" thick

There are three mandarin ducks on the lake, they have such lovely plummage

I thought it would be funny to write GOY in the snow, it was still there on Sunday afternoon.

See the snow laden branches?

and again?

See me posing for a photo and being set up by hubby Jim…lol!

On the way back to the car after a lovely afternoon walk.

Before I go I thought you`d like to know that Lab Lifeline rang yesterday with an offer for a young chocolate bitch. Unfortunately she didn`t quite fit the bill for a couple of reasons and I don`t want to get it wrong, it would be unkind to take on a dog if I didn`t feel absolutely sure. Its great news that I have heard so soon so though, fingers crossed I might not have to wait too long for the right one.

Bye for now.

Just as a matter of interest, did you watch Horizon last week? 'The secret life of a dog' I've just watched it on the iPlayer. I've enjoyed your blog as it's just what I like to do. I like snow when it's not thawing. My dog loves it as he's very hairy.

Lovley photo's Sandra. Brings back many a memory of walking in Black Park. Especially around the lake. 45yrs ago actually. My husband used to teach me to drive there, all around the car park, wouldn't get away with it now !! Someone would report us - health & safety. I did pass first time !. I expect it's changed anyway. Did you know Pine Wood Studios used to film a lot of the Dracula films there? We would watch the films & say Oh good old Black Park.
Happy New Year to you & searching for another dog. Pam.

Hi Sandra - good luck with your dog-hunt. I do hope the right one comes along soon. It looks very cold along the path!

Beautiful photos of a park I know well. Jim certainly set you up well, lol.

Several James Bond films were partly filmed in Black Park as were parts of the Harry Potter series, some Carry On films and one of the Monty Python films. There's a lovely bridle path there which I used many years ago. Not having been there for years may I ask if the terrapins still sunbathe there in the summer?

Super photos and blog Sandra. A walk through the snow like this is the one delight of this weather. You obviously enjoyed it. Ours was cancelled because we could not find Elaine's wellies. :-))
