Goodbye my precious boy

I have to tell you that on Tuesday evening we had Jake put to sleep. That morning he started to fade and we knew it was time to say goodbye. The vet told us that he wasn`t in pain but was just to weak to sustain life so it made the awful decision much easier to bear. I won`t go into medical details here. Jake had cancer far too young and he just couldn`t fight it anymore. He was the bravest and the best of dogs and I miss my friend so badly. Thank you for all your words of comfort and support, they are very much appreciated and very helpful at this sad and painful time. There is someone who has been especially kind and helpful to me, you know who you are, extra special thanks to you. I took the advice you gave me and that helped more than I can say.
Yesterday I took the day off work as did Jim. We wouldn`t have been able to concentrate anyway. We walked through the woods where we walked Jake, we talked a lot, cried a lot and felt much better afterwards. Somehow we felt as though he walked with us…who knows?
Anyway, run free precious boy and chase your squirrels. Thank you for being our dog, you enriched our lives.

Oh,Sandra,I am so sorry you have lost your special friend.It has brought tears to my eyes,as I know what you are going through.You have some wonderful pictures and memories to treasure,and in the meantime,just let the grieving
process happen, and day by day, it won't seem as painful for you both.

I feel so much for you.This has brought back to me thoughts of our precious greyhound Jasper.We had to have him put to sleep,it will be one year on the 30th Nov. We still miss him as you will yours,but are so grateful for the time we had with him. I'm glad your friends on GOY have been and will be here for you :) Take care xxx

I'm so sad to hear about Jake. You have been very brave. It's a difficult and awful time for you.
I'm sure he was with you on your walk. My cats often visit me. Our friends are with us for ever.

ive tears here sandra, so sorry about jake, looking at his pics just reminds me of my sheba, she to had cancer, jake was a beautifull boy, take care x

Dear Sandra~ What a lucky dog to have had you as his owner, mom, and friend...He lived a wonderful happy life with people who cared about him as your wonderful pictures portray. So sorry to hear about jake at least he won't suffer any more.Instead he'l be rolling round in the beautiful big garden in the sky.

So sorry Sandra, Jake was loved and cared for by you and your family and now he is no longer hurting, he was a handsome lad and I understand exactly what you went through these last weeks, my Malik also loved water so I`m hoping that both our beautiful boys are bouncing around in a lake together...
Lovely photo`s Sandra, I find it brings tears to look at ours but also so many smiles and happy memories as well.
