Plant shelves

I know I should have taken pictures of the progress as I went and I can say I accidently deleted them but either way I end up needing to go to the corner. LOL.

The project was started prior to the road trip and I have finished it today.

Did I know that when we walked into Menards (a do it yourself home improvement store) to purchase some needed items for the camping trip that I would walk out with a pine wood shelving unit to turn into a plant stand. Nope! But when I came across the shelves (assembly required) I stood there and Terry could see the wheels turning. “What ya thinkin?”

“I’m thinking I need a plant stand with grow lights for my plants in the winter time” (I have only one small window with bright light all others are low light) I was also thinking that if I purchase these I will want to stain them and how far did I want to go with this? Soooo…When we walked out of the store we had the shelves, a small can of stain and of course lacquer.

Prior to the trip I achieved getting all the boards stained. Yesterday 2 coats of lacquer went on. Today shelves assembled with lights and power strip attached.

the end result……

Three lights, four shelves…plants that go on the top shelf will be ones needing low light. (now don’t get the idea that this is all of my plants…most are still outside)

Now maybe my Saintpaulias (African Violets) will begin to look as good as the ones at work.

Now to wait and see if my timer is working…I have 5 minutes to wait…thumb twiddling, whistling…3 minutes… finger tapping, more thumb twiddling… 1 minute… foot tapping….Ho Hum….Big sigh!!! back to thumb twiddling… Yes!!!! It just turned off as scheduled. Happy dance!

Total cost of everything(shelves, lights, stain, lacquer, brushes and timer)…$95.00

Now going to the corner for not taking photos of the progress.
