Up the garden path

Well, it took about three days, but the path that used to be a mess is now paved… or ‘bricked.’ Started off with odd half bricks, then purloined some from next door, then realised I was going to have to buy some after all and bought a selection of 110 bricks from B&Q… which proved insufficient. It’ll have to do for now, can’t be on me knees for another day until May at the earliest. There’s about eight more rows to go… sigh.

The end result is a tad colourful, but will soon be overrun with creeping thyme and other scented crawlers (any suggestions?), to be crushed underfoot and scent released!

Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions (pebble gravel, bark, brick…). Because I really wanted the foot-crush-scent effect, I went with brick. Makes such a difference to have a level surface to walk on. You can see my favourite seat in this photo. And a coffee cup, if your eyesight is particularly sharp.

What a difference from your previous blog's photos - great job. There's such a variety of thymes - it would look like Prince Charles' thyme walk at Highgrove.

You've done a great job there Kloba. It looks really nice. I would plant creeping thyme and some chamomile. You can get all different types of thyme in different colour and textured foliage. Thyme stands up to a fair bit of traffic too.

thanks for all your kind comments. Thyme, camomile and corsican mint here we come. I must go to Highgrove to experience the Thyme Walk (there's got to be a joke in there somewhere? lol)
