Hello just a short blog, been trying for an age to take a photo of a Coal Tit ( think there might be two ) who spends what seems like hours back and fore my bird feeder but it’s so quick by the time I press the shutter it’s gone ! but yesterday I got a few pics courtesy of my grandson 7 shouting he’s coming gran, it was rather funny me with my glasses on trying to look over them camera at the ready grandson watching the Mahonia Bush where the Coal Tit lands before his concord type flight to the feeder for his quick take of a sunflower heart I think he must be storing them somewhere or selling the on lol , the photo’s show him on the feeder and in the cage hope you can see him ,the other pics show more obliging birds robin, chaffinches ,magpie, goldfinches, and some quarrelsome sparrows.I also have two wrens visiting they too are very elusive no photo yet. I think the Coal Tit is the next smallest bird after the wren.
Thanks for looking :-)

Well done with the coal tit pic - they don't hang around for their portraits do they! But what a nice lot of goldfinches - have you looked at them through binoculars? The detail is amazing, they are so beautiful.

What a lovely little bird. And great shots of the other birds too. I had my first coffee of the day in our sun porch & was thrilled to see four zebra finches coming right onto the patio. They seem to be attracted by the daisies in our lawn ....been too much rain to get out & mow it. Yesterday we were delighted to spot a little wax eye on the knipfolia (not sure I have spelt that correctly.

I think its lovely when the grandchildren are still of an age to enjoy and help with our favourite pastimes, you have a lot of birds already visiting your feeders, lovely photo`s kidsgran....

At the moment there seem to be about a dozen maggie's around my garden they happily feed on the grass below the feeder's and they come and bathe in my bird bath quite regular but I do shoo them off if I think they are a danger to the little birds but havent seen any evidents of an attack as yet . Dwyllis you do live in a lovely part of the world my husbands niece's lives in Auckland .
