Pottering and pruning this weekend, with the company of a sleepy girl.

In between shopping and visiting, I decided to prune some of the ceanothus/ivy hedging at the back which is at the bottom end of the bund, opposite side to stepped area and the sunny side.
This area is a bit shady at times due to the overhanging solanum crispum glasnevin.
I also trimmed back another ivy hedge next to the log shed/tool shed as I don’t want it to grow behind the shed as it’d be difficult to manage.
I moved some pots, well switched a few around.. and I had to unfortunately toss an ornamental grass away – it looked awful. It was potted up and it had some pretty purplish seed flowers on, but it was ropey looking..
I pottered at the back and tidy the rockery..it’s thriving for the first time in years! The whole length of the rockery is full and all the plants are just filling every little space.
I have cut – drastically – one of the large rosemary shrubs at the other end of the bund hill! I think I have made a mistake, but, it was almost horizontal! It was covering a lot of other plants..I may have to remove it full stop.
Anyway, the weather has been gorgeous today up until 5pm ish. 20 mins of black skies, thunder and lightning. Then torrential rain.
After the 20 mins…blue skies and sunshine again!
I’m back at work tomorrow..following a week off. Back to driving through the lovely Lincolnshire countryside…

Everything looks very tidy and organised now. Well done on all the hard work. Your photos are very definitely 'Homes and Gradens', especially the grass and blue door!
Eve looks comfy - was it as humid there as it was here yesterday?

Everywhere looks great Kate! I think your Rosemary will be alright as long as you didn't go into the wood.
We had the lightening here which went on for about an hour, but no thunder and no rain! The same again last night! Very strange!

You have had your work cut out for you with that lot but it is very satisfying when it's done, isn't it? Lovely photos & thanks for including Eve. It was like a Turkish bath here one day, warm & steamy!

It all looks beautiful Kate. Hard work. I have had to sit the last couple of weeks out. I feel in the studio. It is amazing how quickly everything grows. Barry has helped with watering and a few jobs that involve ladders.
Like you I will have a list of jobs to do.

Thank you Julia, I spread the tasks over both day. Just took time enjoying the garden. Thanks for liking my stipa and metal bird - I know you like ornamental grasses too.

Hi Ange, many thanks. Yes, it has been so muggy/humid for several days here too. Eve has been mooching more in the evening to be honest when it’s slightly cooler.
Thanks for your kind compliment - I have to say, the grass seed heads - I had to move the big pot over to my barn door ( it is the internal door which OH made instead of hanging a blind or curtain against the long glass door - just to get the effect of the actual seed heads! All in the name of artistry!!!!☺️

That’s lovely, thank you, Josee, pleased you liked the pic of Eve too! Yep, it does feel rewarding doesn’t it, when we finish our garden tasks!
I love your definition of the recent weather, very apt too!!!

Linda, I do love your garden, all the ferns and lush greenery. Lots of quiet, interesting corners, stepped areas and pretty flowering shrubs too.
I hope you’ve had a productive time in the studio! You do have an amazing skill.
It’s great that Barry is helping you out in the garden while you’ve been busy.
I think the fluctuating weather has really made our gardens grow and everything is just flourishing like mad!

Thank you, Paul! Hope you are both keeping well! Have you been doing any new projects or altering some of your current garden areas?
Cats are always curious aren’t they! Sometimes they do like to watch us hard at work in the garden while they sit and stare with much interest!!!!

The garden is always a work in progress and sometimes a plant just isn't up to snuff and it has to go...real estate is too precious. I think your garden is looking fab esp that you are always on top of things. Eve doesn't seem too bothered by your decisions. I enjoy giving plants away that are overgrown. Like today I"m sending Andy some lilies he likes from my garden, plus a few 'bonus plants' that he didn't know he wanted. That definitely makes way for other plants. Your garden is so bright and colorful Kate - it must be like a private oasis for you.

What a busy time you had in the garden, It is so rewarding when you can sit back and just look at it all. :) :)

Thanks Paul, I think it’s what we enjoy about gardening sometimes, the changes and ongoing evolvement with old and new…I read yesterday you were sending Andy some lilies -plus I think he’ll be quite pleased with the ‘surprise’ plants too. A lovely bonus!
Yes, Eve loves to just follow you around..she’s very unadventurous to be honest..likes to stay close to home, literally!
Still likes to mooch and nibble round the ornamental grasses!
Thank you for your kind compliments, I’m hoping some of the other things I’ve planted grew nice and tall and lend that sense of privacy and ‘I could be anywhere in the world’ feeling…
