Memories (on a june 1988)

I went for business trip here. But could not help, must have stopped in several places along the road. Had flashbacks. I had been here several times, but always think about june 1988. Lot of things changed….
Where I was, you are asking. So this is the High Tatra mountains.

I was on my way, watching empty slopes once devastated by a hurricane in 2004…After 8 years you still can see amputated trunks and holy grounds which once was dark wood…

Millions of money, collected by people from both Czech republic and Slovakia, fizzled. Nobody have seen new planted trees, just those by which mountain forests recover on their own.
Somebody must have to take fallen trunks…

In steep slopes where the machines can´t drive the main hero is chevalier…

Hello, darling, aren´t you tired?

I think, in English you say “toiled to death”. Slovaks say “to toil like a horse”. Now you understand better why :))
Climate has changed in the mountains. Also these flowers weren´t here before. Wild dolphinium or lupins?. If dolphiniums, they are very toxic! But they are georgious. Have a look.

Somebody is training (there is the centre of skiing close to this place)

Somebody bancrupted just in the middle of construction – or dissappeared?

Flowers of my youth…

Refreshing stream…just to cross. Friends told me, there is less water in the mountains…But still, nothing compared to my dry garden :)

Memorials to partisans from the socialistic era….

These belong to Slovak and Russian partisans. French partisans have much grandious memorial.

Jesus…looks so tired…

..and His garden…

See you soon, the mountains of my youth.

Beautiful place Katarina. What a pity about the damage to the trees. That is a very good looking horse working so hard.

Horse means a lot for people in the mountains. This region was famous due to horse smugglers.

Beautiful scenes Katarina, shame about the trees but the flowers are gorgeous, all those lupins growing wild, I`m struggling to get one blue one to survive...
Its touching to see all that beauty and then the memorials, stark reminders of the past....
