bosch alr 900/avr 1100

I was after an aerator but have got the bosch alr 900.
They call it a rake/verticut but when looking at the internet it was described as an aerator..
Would the verticut do the same work as an aerator?

I have a year old lawn that has been compacted quite a bit during the snow and is pretty patchy.
