how was your weekend ?..

hi all,i just thought i would show you some of the work i did over the weekend at the allotment,
after clearing what was fast becoming a dumping corner..i forgot to take a pic beforehand..

my lovely daughter re.dug the potato bed and planted them, it saved my poor back thank you Nicola.. i need to do something with the tree stump here as it is too big to take out,may make a seat out of it ..

i covered the shed with netting and made a box out of old planks, then i planted Sweetpeas near the netting then a few strawberry plants so i hope the sweetpeas will cover the shed in summer..

the frogspawn in our pond on plot is now tiny tadpoles…

i had a walk round the site and picked up some old slate here and there..

took it home and used an etching pen we had that id forgotten about, i made 2 on the plot and scratched them with a nail till hubby reminded me of the pen..

the pea one is 7inches long cauli is 10 inches long, but they are ok for free veg markers that wont blow away..

.

put my carrot seeds in..

transplanted cabbage from my greenhouse

and wrapped them up nice and cosy..

planted out my couliflower,i see a big difference in planting on this plot to planting on the raised bed plot ,have to get round OH to go to the woodyard lol…

this last pic is my new project which i will show you when finished ,if it turns out ok that is lol…

wow!! i love what you've been doing! I wish our garden looked like that, we are planning on raised beds for veg, but if you look at my pics, you'll see we have a blank canvas atm....lots of work to do, but if we can get ours looking like yours, it'll be worth it! I like the idea of the sweetpeas covering your shed! They're one of my favourite, we've just planted some to grow over an archway at our front door :)

It all looks so tidy! I bet its taken hard work to get that far. A weekend well spent!! :)

You have transformed the plot ... love your daughters wellies ! Clever idea to grow Sweet Peas against the shed ... I've put mine in the garden today and just hope the mouse/slugs leave them alone ! The Cabbage and Caulis look nicely protected from the Pigeons ... they were a real pest when we had an allotment. Your slate signs are lovely. : o ) )

It all looks great Joanella, you`ve put a lot of work into it, lets hope all your crops do well, my son has a flowerbed in front of his shed in the allotment and last year the flowers were fantastic, probably partly due to the protection of the shed at their backs, lets hope it works that good for you. Natty idea making labels out of the slate, you would pay a lot to buy them so well done plus they won`t blow away......

hi Megan ,thanx for your comments,i love sweetpeas,i have put the nets up mainly to deter cats as they use the beds as litter trays ,there are a few that come on, not too bad with pigeons though..

cheers Lincs, glad your sons flowerbed worked well it brightens up a space..i just saw a piece of slate and scratched a plant on with nail now ive got one for all my veg lol..
