hi all,i dont think anything else could go wrong this week i feel so stressed, it started monday when the house phones were ringing in but we couldnt answer them ,so new phones needed…. wednesday hubby got a parking fine £40 for 20 mins late on aldi car park… ,up at allotment all day today i thought i would make some fairy cakes for after our tea
this is how they went in oven..

and 20 mins later ..this is how they came out..

we need a new oven, ours is about 5yrs old..so i hope nothing else goes wrong..
to top it all i went round to mums today and 3 weeks ago her heating broke down ,council came out said it needed a valve and would order one it would take a week, 2 weeks later still chasing up the part ,3 weeks later council comes with part puts it in said “its not this thats wrong” all comes to all the thermostat on the living room wall has a battery in it , surprise surprise
that is what was wrong oh i give up lol..

Isn't it annoying when this sort of thing goes wrong. The door fell off our tumble drier and it is made such that you can't get at the screws to screw it back on. It works fine if you hold the door in place or jam something against it. It is ready to go in my shed to have a new hinge system fitted to it as it would be a waste to throw it away just for that! :-o

27 Mar, 2010

oh SB i hope thats it for you ..at least you know what it is now when it flashes lol and my dishwasher has just gone to bed ..:o))

27 Mar, 2010

there is always something Richard isnt there, nothing is easy, you would think you could just screw it back on but no...,you could just prop it up with a washing basket and no one would know lol..:o))

Things are made 'throw away' now aren't they Joanella-I always try to find a way to fix things if I can--it is a challenge ( I win mostly but not always!) :-)

27 Mar, 2010

i was saying just that today, a stove should last a lifetime ..nothing is built to last, not household goods anyway, glad you try and mostly win it saves moey in the long run ..ah wel its all sent to try us ..or so they say lol :o))l

Yes, I'm convinced about things happening in threes! Just last week the glass-fronted wall-hanging cupboard housing most of our wine and water glasses fell off the wall - only a few glasses survived! Then I knocked over a pint glass of water onto a wooden floor and we spent aaaaaages forcing sheets of kitchen roll between the floor and the skirting board to soak it all up. By then I was on tenterhooks waiting for the third thing and keeping away from scissors, knives and knitting needles in case of injury or fatality, but then made a vanilla cheesecake, not realising that the cream cheese was out of date, and it finished up looking gorgeous but inedible! I can relax now!

my mum always said 'break a match' for your third ! have you thought that it could be the element in the oven thats gone? have a look on the internet for your model and sometimes they give you troubleshooting advice then if you call a repairman you know the facts and are less likely to be bamboozled by someone unscupulous :o)

28 Mar, 2010

aww what a shame, bet you were looking forward to a wee cup of tea and a cake.

28 Mar, 2010

sounds like your havin a bad time,, (there was no heat when i put it on) your oven may need a thermastat as a kind person replaced mine not long ago saving me alot of money on a new oven if you can locate it and find one look on line at your make of oven hope things get better

28 Mar, 2010

So sorry everthing went wrong for you, hate them times as they always seem to happen together dont they.

28 Mar, 2010

Oh dear what a lot of catastrophies. I mustn't laugh as things have gone ok here for a while. Now what was that song? "always look on the bright side..de dum....

28 Mar, 2010

I`ve never heard of a thermostat with a battery though I think the workmen should have checked that before they ordered a part they didn`t need. I know how you feel about being without an oven, its so annoying to say the least. :o(

It does annoy me also when things keep going wrong - just a point you can cook cake mixture in the microwave just take it out of the paper cases and put it in a glass bowl and they come out lovely
