fountain of youth?no, its good getting older

as i get older i find i am much better at most things, for example i can now multitask-type with 1 finger whilst looking a the screen (almost)
i can now only hear the things i want to hear,
i am much better at sleeping and can now do it when sitting up.
dont have to answer texts on my mobile,as i cant see the screen,
can nearly cross at a crossing before the green man vanishes
can get my shopping carried just by holding my back,
my g.p is like a best buddy i see her that often,
i can now wear outfits that dont even match, cant tell if its navy or black,
i fill croswords in no time with a lifetime of knowledge,
can certainly remember things from 20yrs ago better than yesterday,
dont need to wear uncomfortable heels just comfy clarks,
spend hours at garden centres,it takes so long to get round,
get lots of exercise going upstairs,or was i going down?
can go in mothercare without buying anything,
dont use my specs to read its a lot better with a big magnifying glass,
dont need my g.h.ds any more a quick flick with the combs ok as dont look in mirror any more,
also im sometimes a bit confused, wait a second did i say its good getting older? young uns beware.

Great blog and so 'insightful' as I believe they say today.

Good blog Joanella...how old is 'getting' old do you think?...I said the other day I was nearing 50 & was told I was wishing myself old but my daughter thinks anyone of 30 plus is old!

Yes, how old is 'old' nowadays? Enjoyed your blog :o)

Fear not Tulsalady, everybody gets 'edit comment' but only on their own comment. It's there for about an hour in case you want to alter or correct it - it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with!

This blog made me smile !

I remember when i was in my twenties and worked with a few people in their forties, i remember thinking that they were so old and staid ! Yikes :-/

Enjoyed the blog Joanella, there's many of us can identify with all you say and probably some more too.......
No need to bother with make up, eyes in particular as I can't put it on with specs on or see where my eyes are without them! lol
yes Louise I remember when I started work thinking anyone over 30 was ancient!! :o((

Fluff, joking aside 50 isn't old... neither is 60 can't be 'cause that's my age :-)

18 Oct, 2009

i have the same problem lily going hairdressers next week to have eye lashes tinted and permed to save me looking like a panda

'How old is old' how long is a piece of string? The gap between them and us is wide. The other day I heard on the wire-less, that the youngsters of today can expect to live until 100. If they think we're old, they're in for a shock. There are many olde sayings on the subject but one I'll not forget (well not until I get senile) is a conversation in a restaurant "Do you miss being at work? no but I miss the holidays.

thats a good one heron not heard that one before

Lol Joanella....great blog, and me to a T....:))) I try very hard not to look in a mirror these days....just tell myself "I'm a gardener", and that's more important than being a glamour puss...lol :)
Lily...I agree about the "eye make-up"....can't see to put the stuff on without my specs either....

18 Oct, 2009

Joanella - you ARE answering! So that's one less thing to worry about... LOL.

Retirement suits me. Mostly, I can do what I want, when I want to, how I want to.Can't be bad, can it? :-))

Oh, but I do HATE wearing glasses to read. :-((

18 Oct, 2009

i know spritz its just clicked ,but thought it was through inbox just diggin a deeper hole now

18 Oct, 2009

"Mowing the lawn in stilletos" could catch on Joanella :) It would aerate the lawn at the same time....good for drainage etc...lol:) You see...with age, comes wisdom....;)

18 Oct, 2009

yes but what would the neighbours think they would call the white van out to take you away oh wise one

18 Oct, 2009

The mind boggles !!!

18 Oct, 2009

What a great Idea Di, better hide them from hubby next time he does the mowing! Lol........ No problem really as I don't possess such things and even if I did , they wouldn't be size 13 and he doesn't know where the mower is kept! :o((

18 Oct, 2009

whats that heron is your mind bogglin,
mine doesnt know where to plug it in lily.

18 Oct, 2009

I do suggest he takes it for a walk sometimes but no luck so far - I thought lawns were a man thing.
By the way, I don't look in the mirror much nowadays either Joanella, I'd rather not!

18 Oct, 2009

when we moved here 20 yrs ago we said the back garden was mine & the front was bens i bet hes done it half a dozen times, i do it,mind you he does work hard though and awkward shifts.

18 Oct, 2009

Brill idea mow the lawn in spiky high heels... now I just need to find some that I don't fall off of! Remeber guys we have no grass ourselves but we've got this neighbour deal to cut his grass and use a chunk of his land to grow veg.

18 Oct, 2009

you could tie some string round them moon grower would look a treat.

18 Oct, 2009

You could get some gardening shoes like mine, mG, theyre wedges, so you dont sink in if its not too wet! Though my stilettos would aereate the grass just enough for the wildflower seeds i got to have somewhere to take hold! Hmmm!
I get treated with GREAT respect from some of my classmates, being a decrepit 50 year-old!!!! But the rest have just accepted that I'm really only 12!!! (mentally)

18 Oct, 2009

I enjoy being old - I have more confidence and experience.

19 Oct, 2009

I find the 'respect' thing wierd, cos I just refuse to grow up!
Though being flirted with by someone half my age was unnerving, if a GREAT boost to the ego!
