Here is a picture of the site I am going to design and build my pond. As you can see not much room but even a small pond will add something to my garden. I am just about to move the plants I want to keep before levelling the site and begin trying some different shapes with my hosepipe.

Hi, Jim. I'm sure you know what you are doing. Just a cautionary note, don't forget the damp liner to your property. You must'nt go over the line, I personally would'nt go anwhere near it.

Thanks for the note about the damp liner Littlelegs, I will bear that in mind when I play about with the design. I hadn't considered that. The wall you see is a detached garage but as you pointed out it will still have a damp course.

Thanks Joanella My grandaughters persuaded me to have a pond so I've told them they have to help me (don't know how much help they will be but it will be fun to watch)

Hi Jim are there any drains buried here as water can be very heavy and can put pressure on foundations, your garage may well be only one brick thick? Dont forget your pond liner needs room to be fixed on all sides. Quite a few of us find the first lining fails because we are learning! So good luck tom you.

Hi Jim
just another thought for you, filters can be unsightly, could you put it in the garage - it would give easy access for cleaning and be where you can take your power from too.
Are you planning digging down or building up?.
Could the water return from the filter via a water feature/spitter attached to the garage wall, there are some really nice ornate ones about.
Have you seen a recent blog about stones bought from ebay and another blog of them being in place. There are a lot of stones on ebay.
Cheers

Hi Kay
I did think about the filter going in the garage, my friend is an electrician and he is coming round at the weekend to have a look at the electrics already in my garage to see how he can sort out the power supply for the pump and filter. I'm toying with the idea of a waterfall but not sure if I have the room. I did have a quick look on ebay last night for stones, all the ones I found were own collection miles away from me, but it was a quick look and thanks for much for your ideas and comments I really appreciate the help from you and all the other members.
