Finished path.

I’ve been tidying a path that followed the line of my trellises down the garden. I put it there initially to make it easier for pruning and weeding etc but I had not been able to put all the slabs down, and it had become overgrown with weeds and plants spilling out over it.
You may remember it from this photo …

It looks terrible doesn’t it ! :D but I have at last been able to put the rest of the slabs down and cut the overgrown plants back, and taken up the weeds, and here’s what it looks like now (from different angles) …
although the slabs need washing but that will have to wait :-

First, looking up the garden, and the first pic is taken from about the same place as the above one …

Now you can see it from the side …

Looking down the garden …

Now there’s the rest of the garden to tidy … but only slowly :D :)

Looking good Hywel.

what a lovely result Hywel. it looks really smart and will make going down the garden much easier.

Beautiful results, Hywel! it's good to see the fruits of your labours, isn't it? finish one thing..and on to the next! I find getting over the initial inertia is like a boulder rolling downhill... once it's started I don't want to stop.. but there are always a host of factors that dictate how much productivity a person can take! not the least, environmental! Please make sure to pace yourself in the heat. :-)

Your garden is a treat and the new path highlights lovely plants.

Well done Hywel, it looks grand, bigger now you've cleared some plants back, also you won't get your trouser wet if it rains, can't you tell that happens to me sometimes, lol, I think once you make a start and can see where you've been it gives you encouragement to carry on, that's the way it works for me anyway, mind you NOT today, I can't stand this heat anymore so apart from hanging my washing out I've been doing housework, silly woman..
No need to rush through your gardening Hywel, do it when and if you feel like it..x

it is very satisfying to see results this good Hywel. Your new path has changed the garden in a dramatic way. It looks much bigger and longer and the colours are a delight. It is hard to choose a favourite plant when they all look so good together but I do like the yellow aquilegia. I like the way you have used colourful foliage too.

I love your new path and it really sets off the flower beds now. It looks so smart and makes a real difference.

Your garden is looking very nice and the path looks great. Hope you are well, keep up the good work. I have been busy cleaning the patios and the paths around the bungalow but the heat the last 2 days has been extremely hot.

Hywel it looks beautiful, like something from a magazine! You must have felt very tired by the time it was all finished!

I have been doing a bit of very necessary weeding today after being tired for so long it was good to be able to do a bit of something that actually made a bit of difference!
Did you have any problems disposing of all the stuff you cut back? We have heaps lying around, far to much for a brown bin and it will take several trips to the tip.
Sending a couple of strokes for Bella.

Thanks for all your comments :)

I did the path over three days so it wasn't so bad, the afternoons have been a bit too warm for working. I like to have a siesta on warm afternoons :D

Lincslass I always wear shorts in the summer so it's my legs that get wet lol :D
I like the warm weather, I just use the time for relaxing :)

Your paths and patios must be looking lovely now Marjorie :)

I have joined the council's garden waste recycling scheme Steragram, it will take a few collections to dispose of it all but that isn't too bad ...

You've done a good job there, Hywel. I too have been tackling a path problem, undermined by Mr Mole in many places and also too narrow to easily get my mower through. I hope my finished result looks as good as yours.

Your garden is always so well kept and colorful. Nice job on the paths.

25 Jun, 2020

That's a job well done Hywel ... steady and slow is the way to go I think. Well, that's what I have to do these days!

25 Jun, 2020

Very good work, Hywel! :) You have now made the garden look more spacious & tidy! Take things easy in this heat!

Where I live in East Anglia, only 20 miles from Cambridge the temps have reached 32C today! Thank goodness it is supposed to cool down a little over the weekend. Thunderstorms are forecast but we don't get them very often.

Thanks for all your comments about my path :)

I hope your paths are looking better now Gill :)

It looks well kept as long as I can keep on top of it Bathgate :)

I hope you are all right Shirley, the slower the better for me these days :)

I haven't done anything today Balcony, it has been too hot. We were also forecast thunder storms but haven't had a drop of rain yet, although there was some high cloud gathering this evening and the sun became hazy.

Hywel, I had a bit of a 'wobble' a week ago but have been taking things slow on doctor's orders! :o)

26 Jun, 2020

I'm sorry to hear that Shirley, please take care.

26 Jun, 2020

Will do ... :o)) x

Fantastic job, Hywel! Looks really impressive! Your garden as always, looks amazing! It’s so full of life and colour too.
You’ll deserve a well earned rest! The path looks really nice and flows really well..the planting on either side is further enhanced. Thanks for sharing. Keep well x

26 Jun, 2020

You're working hard Hywel, but it looks a lot better. The rest of your garden (or what I can see) looks really good too. Are you like me, alway changing something?

26 Jun, 2020

Thanks for all your comments :)

I hope you are well too Kate. I'm glad you like my garden :) x

You can't really see the rest of the garden in these photos Julia, just what's next to the new path. I made sure not to show it because it is in an awful mess. Another blog is on the way after I tidy it :)
Yes I am always changing something ... never satisfied lol

26 Jun, 2020

Lol! I used to be always moving the furniture around when we lived in our larger family home. Now our little retirement bungalow doesn't have enough room to make that possible, so I've transferred my 'talents' to the garden 😂😂

26 Jun, 2020

What a difference that has made Hywel ! It looks good and now shows all your lovely borders off and what a fantastic view you have from the garden too !

27 Jun, 2020

I do that to the furniture too Julia lol :)

Thank you Rose :)

Well Done, Hywel. As for the 'getting there'; it's the journey that I enjoy the most. I love the variety of colours; textures and forms that surround your path. Better still, the views are to die for. Lucky you!
Happy gardening!

What a difference Hywel, it's so pretty now. I must get cracking on mine now, She who must be obeyed (Bloomer) told me I've got to start cutting back my wayward plants and tidy up ....so that's what I'm going to do:-)

19 Jul, 2020

Thank you ... I'd better not show my garden to Bloomer then ! haha :D

20 Jul, 2020
