A Stroll up the back road

Out the back of this garden there’s a narrow little road that leads nowhere, but it’s got some pretty views.
I go that way sometimes when I walk up the village ….

It’s a very narrow road, but they speed along it like idiots …
and you’ve often got to jump out of the way :o(

Here are some more views from the road ….

It eventually comes out on to a bigger road …. which also leads nowhere ….

From here, a narrow lane leads towards the village ….
It goes through lots of meadows, where we can find wild flowers growing ….

Lesser Celandine – Ranunculus ficaria ….

Pussy Willows – Salix caprea ….

Dog Violet – Viola riviniana ….

Bracket fungus ….

Now approaching the back of the village …..

It’s rather a drab place :o(

We’ll go back along the river bank, but that will be in another blog :o)

We have roads like that around here and yes idiot drivers as well, mind you if you saw the way some go up and down my road Hywel and thats on an estate with 3 schools in close proximity you`d know the beggars are all over, college kids think they're on a racetrack.
Thanks for the walk,I enjoyed it...

Lovely walk,Hywel..and I quite like roads to nowhere..I don't think the village is boring at all..where else but a small village, would you get people ready to pass the time of day,and say hello with a smile ? Not in a so called upmarket town ,that's for sure ..

Living in the mad city of London, I hope to retire to a place with country lanes and quiet, even drab villages! A lovely blog Hywell, and I'm looking forward to the walk back along the riverbank.

isnt it nice to see where our friends live, its lovely Hywell. I used to have a pen friend in carmarthen, a long time ago. she used to say how lovely it was, before we had instant pictures of course. x

shame about idiot drivers seems they are everywhere, always wonder just where it is they seem to want to get to in such a hurry! We live off a lane with regular horseriders and tractors on it mainly single track and lots of blind bends but what should be a lovely walk up to bridlepath often turns into hair raising ordeal due to these daft folk. Nice idea of yours to share local walks, may do mine one day and share.

Love the views. Glad you posted the picture of the Lesser Celandine, I was going to post a picture of that on here to ask what it was as we have lots growing in the garden. Thank you!

The views form the road that leads to nowhere are really impressive, Hywel! Around here the land is as flat as the proverbial pancake! That's one of the things I miss about Cuenca, in Spain, where we used to live. High hills that seem to say I'm going to fall on top of you if you turn your back for a minute or two!

I'll be seeing them again for a few days in a few weeks time as we are going over there for a few days to see my family-in-laws & our two sons. The youngest is expecting his first son/daughter for Halloween! We will try & get over around the time of his/her birth.

I've just come in from working on the allotment and looked at your lovely blog ,Hywel. I really enjoyed it and I think, probably when you've lived somewhere for a long time, you don't see it as others see it. The scenery is amazing and right outside your back door. You are so lucky. I wish we had lovely walks like this. We used to walk around the allotments in the evening as part of it has been left and gone back to nature , so as we were walking through the long grasses, you could imagine being in the country. But the council decided to fence all this area off , so they didn't have to tidy it up and then sold some of the land to a clinic. So no more walks for us. Take care and will keep looking in from time to time. x

Thank you for the lovely walk! The village is very quaint. I'll have to write a blog about what I look at every day here, in Maryland. After looking at those pictures you'll look forward to your visit to the village. Lol
