Seaside Rescue............

I was just about to browse through everyones photos, when my daughter phoned me from the beach, which is 4mins walk in front of me….she said an elderly lady had slipped going down the stones to the beach…… the paramedics could not get her up the stones which are quite steep…. so they sent for the rescue helicopter………it was so loud circling round my house…. i went up to have a look as did most of the neighbours……. it could not land as the tide was in… so had to winch someone down with a stretcher this took quite a while the helicopter in the meanwhile was circling around…. as it got near to winch up the lady the seaspray was blowing over us and the force of the helicopter coming low was pushing us backwards…. very powerful……. the lady got winched up safely and taken away to hospital…….
i have just come back from seeing it………..

Thank goodness for the search and rescue people. They do a marvellous job. Must have been exciting to watch. I hope the poor lady is OK.

Wow, thats it really, Holly, I've seen the lifeboat launched from Skegness but never seen the helicoptor so close. I hope the old lady is ok as well!

Yes, we should be thankful these people are there. I live reasonably close to Boulmer where there is a search and rescue team (which we are losing shortly...its being franchised out...ha.ha.).....We often see the choppers buzzing back and forth. I've even sat in one.......I belong to a RNLI Luncheon Club and we had a visit to Boulmer and went underground to see all the computers that track the airspace around the UK and watch out for baddies!!! I remember some of those airmen were very.....nice......lol

Great photos Holly...the air ambulance is the only charity I give to regularly as it is special to us for a sad reason & the Dorset/Somerset AA takes off about half a mile from our house & we see it go over all the time.
They should get more funding from the Govt.

19 Aug, 2009

The problem with government funding is that "they" want to run it and ruin it....((:

To true Lou, the RNLI is only so good because it isn't government funded, they don't have to have managers to manage the managers, who manage the managers. ad nausium..... and, if you want to know what this has to do with gardening, they have some lovely displays outside the boat shed at skegness !?! :~))
