Ive just bought my daily newspaper.
I had to smile when i got to my gardening page.Dear old Peter Seabrook.
He was complaining about not having any tv gardening programmes on at the moment.
Asking why there is nothing for people like us to watch. He was saying that there were plenty of gardens to look at home and abroad.
Surely from my point of view , it would be nice to know more in what to do in winter and early spring.
Trouble is i know that there are some gardening programmes on sky , but not everyone has sky because they cant afford it..I know i cant.
I must admit i am missing my gardening fix from the beeb and i agree with Peter, there should be something on at the moment.
Theres a limit on how many gardening books you look at , at this time of year, id rather watch the programmes on tv.

I wouldn't mind seeing a nice garden programme. I haven't put the tv on for nearly a week - well there's no point is there ? I think I'll get rid of it. I'd be richer, and have more space in my living room :o)

I am with you on this Hywel hardly ever watch TV nothing worth viewing. Dont think I want want to watch gardening programes in the winter, prefer them when I can be active in the garden too.

I have taped quite a lot of gardening programmes over the years but I can't see them now since we went digital. I can't get my video to work :o( But I would like to see some nice programmes about plants - something like a series that the late Goeffrey Smith had years ago. It was a brilliant series.

mad
Mad

I spent a while looking at all the pictures on GoY yesterday. That was lovely, with gardens to match any seen on TV. I must admit though that I feel quite angry sometimes when sport comes before ANYTHING. Gardening programmes have been put off because of a sports event over-running. Even the repeats of Open Gardens are put on at non-peak times. I can't believe that keen gardeneers are in a minority.

At the moment there are no garden programmes on sky and have not been any for quite a while, at one time they did have a station with just gardening on it all day long but that went a good 6-9mths ago, we should all get together some how and see if we can do something about it, know it will be waste of time but at least we will have tried.

We haven't got sky either, and I have to agree with Peter - why can't gardeners have some programmes in the winter? You can't tell me that they don't have access to huge archives to make new programmes!

You are not really missing anything by not having sky,as they are terrible for repeating programmes, they constantly show the same ones, when they are on they announce new programmes but really they have just changed channels around....Still put prices up tho...........

Agree with you Linclass keep saying i'm going to get rid as still only really watch 5main channels, got my phone with sky aswell.

Maybe you can find gardening programs that you can watch right on your computer..wouldn't hurt to do a search for them...I had no TV for a while and watched such things I was interested in on mine....

There are some days when ours doesn't get turned on at all, Mg. Husband likes the Nature programmes and horrible Jeremy Clarkson, though.

I do like to choose a nice DVD and settle down with that!

So do I Sprizthenry but watch on the laptop or we set up the digital projector and screen and have our own cinema experience.

I have to have SKY out of necessity (reception difficulties). Believe me, you're missing nothing by not having this. :-(.

Can get all the "fixes" I need right now, however, through catalogues, books, and GOY, of course. :-))

Mind you i went a bit mad in wyevale today , i managed to buy some flower seeds for 79p each.Carters brand , plus they were selling thompson and morgan and the duchy of cornwall seeds 50% off marked price, so i ended up buying about a dozen packets of seeds for the garden. Now all ive got to do is work out where i can put them.
