Kinky or what!

Many years ago I used to buy the cheap plastic hosepipe but someone advised me to spend more and buy the yellow Hoselock one. Good advice as I’m still using it. Though it doesn’t leak it does constantly ‘kink’ which is very annoying, do you recon it’s time I replaced it?

I have a kinky hosepipe as well Heron and indeed, it is the Hoselok type but as HB says, why replace if it works okay. I'd rather spend me money on something that could grow and bring me more pleasure.

It is annoying at times but not many men can say they have a kinky hosepipe!!!

I've one as well and I've noticed its usually that i've 'walked the wrong way!' and not the way that it wants to go---- evidently Lol

That sounds about right Pam!!!

They do seem to have a mind of their own:o))

Mines the same......I get halfway down the garden..then no water.....:o(

Yeah, i think they must all be the same, my sister had one of those spirally ones once but that was even worse

I thought it was just me. My wife reckons I could get a 'scaffold pole' in a tangle. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

They just don't understand Expats, do they?!!!!

If you say yes they do, I know she's reading this at the same time as you.......:o))

Not to worry Heron, a kinky hose is surely better than getting your knickers in a twist, which is what my OH says I do when trying to water the garden.

Snap my hosepipe does it aswell.

I think you have got a point Pamg about walking the wrong way, there must be a scientific explanation. I've tried holding it tight as not to twist but it still kinks. If I win the pools I'll have a short hose with push-on taps all over the garden.

You're not alone in having a kinky hose Heron ... ours blew off the kitchen tap due to a kink & I made hubby re - decorate ... good excuse eh?!

18 May, 2010

What a sneaky pete you are Fluff!!

18 May, 2010

Ha! I've been nagging for an outside tap for years ...well what self - respecting gardener doesn't have an outside tap ... I ask you?

I didn't really loosen the taplocky thing ... honest!

18 May, 2010

yep mines kinky too... very anoying ...but you can now get hoses that aren`t suposed to kink don`t know if they do as they should tho

Things are kinky here in Berkshire too! :o((
You definitely need an outside tap Fluff, tell him it's cheaper than decorating again!

18 May, 2010

I'll look up none-kink hose on the net Viv1 but if I find one I'll bet it wont be cheap.

19 May, 2010

I've found one, it's sort of flat, not sure if it rounds when full but it doesn't seem expensive. Has anyone any experience of such a hose?

19 May, 2010

Not personally Heron.....but I'll ask at the Firestation up the road...Lol!

Maybe I should type in 'kinky hosery' but perhaps not, too soon after my op :-)

-- it must be because some of us are 'baby boomers' remember kinky boots ! Lol
as to flat hose we use one for washing the car as its very soft but you couldn't leave it unwound from its holder -- instead of kinks i think you'd have knots ! :o)

19 May, 2010

well heron, you sure found a lot of kinky people on goy I guess I will have to join them.

19 May, 2010

A friend of ours who's a retired plumber is going to put in an outside tap for me in the next few weeks Lily so can't wait!

19 May, 2010

I`ve decided to buy a kink-free hosepipe myself Heron, our old hosepipe has split so I`ve decided to splash out (pardon the pun!) on a nice new Hozelock. :o)

19 May, 2010

I think I may well do the same Labdancer, It'll be a 'reel' treat :-)

19 May, 2010

We have an outside tap at last and two hoses for the top and bottom of the garden (oh and another one in the front.)

But they all kink from time to time - if anyone finds something which doesnt, plaes let us all know! :)

mine kinky to heron, like janey get down the garden and no water, look back and there it is the kink, i stand there shaking it but always end up having to go straighten it out lol, oh well ;o)) it works so im keeping mine

How lucky can you get? yesterday as I un-kinked the hose it snaked around and gave me a shower all over my shorts, lucky it was warm. A new one is DEFINATELY on my shopping list now.

25 May, 2010

lol heron, ive been there to hahah ;o))

25 May, 2010

I'm £40 the poorer now after buying 30m of unkinkable hose today. I justiyied it by not buying any plants, well except one lol

25 May, 2010

lol heron, well its not expensive when you stretch the cost over years of use ;o))

25 May, 2010

I sure hope that so-called-unkinkable-hose didn't kink on u.
I have use soooooo many hoses in the past even ones that say kink free but they all kink!!! Every darn one of them. They are my bone of contention in the garden. It never fails that they kink, sometimes in more places than one & if it can get caught around something they do. Yes, I too sometimes think they have a mind of their own.
I have to say though that I think 40 pound is a heck of a lot to pay for a hose.
I've bought 100ft. hose for as little as $14.00 it may not have been the best quality but they all break in one place or another. I know the heavier ones last longer but they are too heavy for lugging around & putting away.
