Beginnings

We have been here on this piece of land for 2 1/2 summers, but it is the first year for any gardening to be successful. Our property is the lowest of all the surrounding area, therefore whenever it rains the water drains from elsewhere here and just stands in puddles so deep the 4 lb chihuahua has to swim through some of them!

But we did get the entrance to the property redone. We had liriope given to us by an elderly neighbor. So I placed that down the fence and roses behind it. When everything grows in next spring it should look great. I will be adding torch lilies at the ends of the fence (on both sides of the drive) come fall for spring bloom.

Around the mailbox, I built a small raised bed. It has liriope across the front, with an Arizona Blanket Flower on either side of the pole. Climbing the Trellis is a clemantis. It looks so scraggly this year, I hope it fills in and blooms better next year!

This will be a gorgeous entrance when it all starts maturing and filling out. You've done a great job here so far. Don't forget to post photos when it grows and blooms.
