Good, bad & ugly in my April garden. Part One

It’s been a while since I posted, and with a recent Lumix camera itching to be out in the sun today was good day to try out for macro pictures around the garden.
These may be more photographic then horticultural interest as I was looking for nice images & not “nice” plants

Out of my back door, in sheltered sunny spot, is a potted fig tree

Nearby is a self seeded sunflower, which having provided a snail’s dinner I hope will recover now the predator is dead

Then it gets better, a lilac “Meyeri Palibin” starting to flower, still in a pot since last year, it’s one of those plants bought and hoping to find a spot for it somewhere

Just past that are some apples, in pots. The “Pinova” I bought last year and this is the first year I’m letting it really fruit

These buds are Golden Delicious, also bought last year, on dwarf stock for pot growing, from Morrison’s of all places. Again it’s the first year I’ll let it fruit

Over a bit is a “Stanley” plum, also in a pot. The fruit is just starting to set. I’ve had it since 2012 and this will be the second year it’s fruited. From Lidl, only £2.49 so no complaints

Adjacent is a sort of espalier trained pear, which is mis labelled, I think it’s either a Red Stanley or an Anjou. I’ve had it since 2012, also from Lidl but £3.99. This will be second year of fruiting so I’m hoping for more fruit to help establish the correct variety

Behind the pear is a white currant, not really trained, just growing but doing OK in it’s allocated spot half hidden by the pear

Then up a couple of steps, with some bluebells in the shade of the currant
