Promises, promises

Even though the wind is blowing a quick check shows what I hope will be a good year for fruit, with two that if the promise is fulfilled will be my first taste of these

First, Cherry “Sunburst” in it’s 10th year, always fruits but me actually eating them is a race between me & the climbing snails. Sometimes I win. It is only a dwarf tree, about 4 feet high, planted in open ground

Next will be a first time fruiter, Plum “Stanley”. I’ve had this since April 2016, bare rooted from Lidl, £2.49. Always been in a pot, moving up to larger pot and into it’s final large pot last year. If I get to eat any plums it will have paid for itself
Hope the wind stops before the buds actually open

Last is my pear, “Doyenn du Comice”, another first time fruiter. In open ground but trained as espalier since 2017 to try & limit it’s vigour
Also from Lidl, February 2012, £3.99
There is a “Concorde” next door so hoping pollination will not be a problem

Darn you & your fancy southern temperatures ☺
The info sheet that came with my DD Comice states that Concorde is it's ideal partner

I've had a few Aldi/ Lidl trees over the years, all good. Lots of blossom on yours :-)

I bought a Doyenne last year and have it in a big wooden planter. Hoping for a pear one day, but pears are tricky here. Really need a warm wall for them. Yours are all ahead of mine..but not by too much.

The old saying is plant pears for your heirs, mine's taken 5 years to get flower buds but it's so dependant on weather, insects and so many other things to go wrong
