Last Monday, 25th Feb, I sowed beetroot “Solist” in modules, my first attempt at growing beetroot in modules BTW
Into heated propagator with my tomatoes
This morning, beetroot are up
There are 3 per module. The intention is to plant out into large pots and get earlier start
Today I’ve also potted up some tuberous begonias “Cascade” mixed corms from Wilko
Seeing the beetroot up got me thinking. I’ve a very old, opened packet of Broad beans, “Stereo” Bought as clearance offer Sept 2010, so well past use by date
I’ve sown 8, two per pot, just to see if they grow really.
They are in my unheated conservatory
Plus, e-mail arrived, my bare root Apple tree, “Pinova” on M27 is available to collect from Blackmoor’s Monday. I ordered it on line last Monday, click & collect

It's great seeing seeds sproutinghat you ve planted is nt it good choice beetroot I am pleased for you. Got my Begonias in a few weeks back most have started sprouting.
I have known a lot older seeds come up so you might be lucky. I hope your apple tree has lots of blossom.

I've plenty of pollinators around for my apples, ot just my garden but a few down is a huge crab apple, always covered in blossom so I guess that suits all the trees around

I always think that you're not losing anything by sowing old seed, so give them a try is my motto, lol....I have just this week watered my begonia's, I always overwinter them in their containers, and then replant in fresh compost when they sprout, I've had the same ones for a few years now so if they do sprout again I'll be dancing my little jig of excitement..lol...Must buy some new ones though just in case they don't...
