I get this every year on my Acers to some extent. This is quite bad. But if you cut back the dead matter, it will be fine I think. Is it in quite an exposed spot?

I did think I should cut it back and hope for the best.it is a bit exposed but I have a red one in my front garden which is more open and it’s doing great .luck of the draw I suppose.
Today I thought what’s going on,I have a chocolate vine growing over pergola and noticed today some yellow leaves with black on them.its not good soil here but will have to give it a feed and hope it will be ok.
