Syzygium malacense - Malay Apple

Syzygium malacense - Malay Apple (Syzygium malacense - Malay Apple)

My Malay Apple is growing very well. This grows outside and produces fruit here in San Diego, but it’s not the easiest tree to grow because it’s so tropical. Photo taken on Oct. 21, 2022.

Somebody in town emailed me that he was growing this and some other "don't grow here" tropical fruit trees. As I recall..they were growing but no fruit yet. I just congratulated him on getting them to grow period.

It must be a large shrub or tree. I know the pics I saw of the trees bearing here were large trees.

I won’t plant this out until it’s at least 5 or 6 ft tall.

Somebody just gave me a 5 gallon Dragon Fruit. I think I have a spot (wire fence) for it..seems large for a 5 with a few branches. Across the street they have a large one on a arbor..its gets the big pink fruits.

That’s great! I love dragon fruit. I haven’t had any fruit in over a year. Mine was cut back to the ground when the wall was redone. I need a new spot for the varieties I have.
