I saw a blooming Silk Floss tree with pink blooms at this park when I drove by a couple of weeks ago. I haven't been able to get back. I'm sure with all the rains since, its out of bloom. It stood out a block away.

Union City. Next to the Library,Police and whats that HS? All on the main bld. Looks great, besides the many many palms and palm sp. the park isnt a flat park..its made of many undulating mounds of meandering lawn.
He also planted some unusual Auracaria's.

The is a small island in the pond with a clump of King palms.
Maybe today I can stop by and take pics.

He also just emailed me that his crew planted a long row of Wine palms,Silk floss tree's along Whipple.

I know where it's located; however, haven't been there in years. On my next trip to the Bay Area I'll have to check it out.

That's great that some many palms and tropical are being used up there! :>)

I was at the San Diego Zoo this afternoon and evening. It was the low 90's today in most of San Diego County. I couldn't believe how large the Bismarckia nobilis had gotten in the zoo parking lot. They're huge and were just planted a few years ago. All the extra heat from the asphalt in the parking lot makes them grow extremely fast.

Even when I left the zoo during the evening it was still in the low 80's. Amazing! So warm; however, next week the cool weather will be back for a few days. Although, tomorrow may be even warmer before the cool down.
