Prostanthera 'Mint Royale' (Prostanthera denticulata)

The new one I planted earlier this year. Now I know what it looks like!

Neither of mine are out, and no signs either......

The P. cuneata is just sitting there - no sign of buds. I've had a chat with it!

I thought they flowered more in July?

To be honest, I can't remember! This is a new plant a few weeks ago, so I wouldn't know when it was supposed to flower....I think that P. cuneata does flower quite late, though. I'd have to check in my photo files.

First time I have grown these, have the cuneata in the border and the other in a pot as my brother said he lost his last winter and it was a beauty, lovely mauve flowers.

I've been surprised at how many there are, Dd. I do know that most of them are not hardy, though. I couldn't get any specific info on this particular one, so I'll fleece it.

Good idea.....I just love the smell of the leaves.

23 May, 2010

LOL.....I can't reach this to sniff it! The P. cuneata is more accessible...I'll be there, nose down...

I had one with pink flowers like this last year but it didn't make it. I believe they are less hardy than the white cuneata that I have a few of and have all survived perfectly well.

I suspected that - Hywel has another (different) one, and he gets his through the winter, but the winds see things off here, rather than frosts.

25 May, 2010

Hmmm...winds are the main problem here too B...:(

I can't keep things fleeced all the time, can I? LOL.......Imagine 'Joe Public' looking at rows of fleeced plants.....LOL....................:-D

25 May, 2010

I know, I hate fleecing stuff!! Better to keep it in a pot and move it out of danger?

25 May, 2010

I should have, really....I'll have to dig it up.

25 May, 2010

yes, good idea, hope it works ok. They are such beautiful plants...the scent when you brush past them.....wonderful!

25 May, 2010

I'd have a job with ths one - it's in the middle of the bed, and I certainly can't brush past it! LOL.

25 May, 2010

Another reason for putting in a pot then! :)) Right, I have to go and get on...things to do....dog to walk....greenhouse to empty......dishes to wash....laundry to rinse.....yawn! :)))) catchyalater! x

25 May, 2010

So must I........Bye for now. :-))
