I dont think they make edible for people Dates. Parrots would love them.
This is a water loving palm for the usually dry tolerant family of Phoenix palms. I have one. Its on life support from lack of water two summers in a row. Any of the other drier growing species would be taller then me by now.

There's lots of parrots in San Diego. The population of parrots have exploded over the last decade or so here in San Diego.

This is a nice small Phoenix. It does well here; however, they always look a little chlorotic here. I think it's because they don't get enough nutrients.

Same here- I only had it looking great when it was in a pot. Then, the constant watering and fertilizing kept it green. Once into the ground...the yellows started a year later.

I think Potassium is one of the main deficiency in Phoenix species.
