Philodendron 'Evansii' and Me

Philodendron 'Evansii' and Me (Philodendron 'Evansii')

A beautiful Philodendron 'Evansii' and me in Mission Beach/Pacific Beach border, San Diego, CA on the Labor Day Holiday. I most likely don't look too happy because of the excessively hot and humid weather we've had for about a month. LOL! It's really not funny, though! :>(

I have seen these big Philodendrons in Mexico. They are incredible. I can see that you do not wear your hat (behind your butt) in that heat :-)

LOL! Yes, I had to take off my hat for the photo. :>)

These Philodendrons can grow much taller. This is the perfect size, though.

I don't like cold! However, try sleeping in a house that's 90ºF (32ºC) or warmer and very humid...and that was with the a/c going 24/7. I'm so glad it's cooled down...it's only been 82ºF (28ºC) the last 3 days during the day and cooling down to a morning low of 66ºF (19ºC), which feels so nice and cool. Tomorrow the 90ºF (32ºC) or warmer weather returns, though it's going to be a comfortable drier heat. YAY!!!

I've seen big (2 story+ tall) Evansii around Lake Merritt. I have one...and twice its been cut to the ground by accident. I never saw it for a year...then this summer, a sprout.
I should have grown it out in a pot. Its from a cutting from one of those L.M. plants in front of a friends apartment. Years go by..and its always "soon".

Yes, they can grow very large. I've seen them grow up large trees here.

I have seen the ones in front of the apartment buildings around Lake Merritt.
