Wow definitely an early sensation Barbara , how lovely to see ! I'm afraid we can still only see white stuff .......

Definitely! :)

I can't remember if I mentioned planting these back in September, but don't believe the books and magazines that tell you to 'just peel back the turf and plant'. It's actually v.v.v. difficult to do! I hit rocks, pieces of glass, roots, you name it. Never mind - it was worth it. I managed to plant 20, plus a few left-over tulips. :-D)

Lovely to see a bit of cheery colour,Barbara..glad it appreciates the hard work involved in planting it..mine would be the same if I attempted it..still lots of white stuff here, and lots forecast to come later today and tonight..but the heavy rain at the weekend should shift it ! Hope you don't have the same .:o(

What a welcome sight Spritz. I know how hard it is to peel back the turf and pop in bulbs. We did it years ago and I now have intermittant flurries of bulbs, some years very good others not so good. It was such hard work planting them that we decided to pass on digging them up and splitting them. A friend said she would have gotten rid of all the stones etc but I think they help with drainage so we kept them too. They also retain and release moisture when the ground is dry. Lets hope the sun shines for all of us this year.

I have my fingers crossed yet again - the forecaster mentioned the word 'flood' for this area, due to melting snow and expected heavy rain. I think we'll put the flood board back tonight. Some sun? Yes please!

25 Jan, 2013

All over goyworld we are thinking of you and hope you don't need the board but it is a wise decision.

I agree, you were in my thoughts when I saw the forecast,Barbara..I truly hope it doesn't come your way again..

Beautiful to see whatever the weather! :o)

A very welcome sight, hope the forecast is wrong....

26 Jan, 2013

There's a gale blowing, and it's raining. I shall take a look at the stream level before we go to bed.

26 Jan, 2013

A lovely glimpse of the delights to come ;0)

27 Jan, 2013

Yes - planted in view of the house on purpose! :-)

Good thinking B....

what a joy to see.
saw most of my garden for the first time in 3 weeks yesterday. snow nearly all gone :o)

28 Jan, 2013

Yes, ours has too. :-)

28 Jan, 2013

Beautiful! Even if there's lots of snow an the weather may seem miserable, mother nature still manages to provide such beauty and elegance.

Are you kidding us, Spritz? Are you sure that's not a photo from last year??? I'm sure you're pulling our legs trying to make us think you have a Daff in flower while the rest of us poor mortals have hardly seen more than the first leaves poking out the ground.

Just kidding! :-D)

It's nice to see some colour other than white during the last few weeks! :-))

Thank goodness the snow has cleared away at long last! It went as fast as it came! Hope you haven't had problems with flood waters again.

28 Jan, 2013

No, but we're keeping a close eye on the forecasts and the stream level. I have kittens every time it rains. The sooner we get our planned flood defences in, the better.

By the way, there are TWO pretty yellow flowers out now, and more buds appearing near them. :-)))

always such a pleasure to see the first daff...i have a couple but im waiting till saturday to pick them for our first 6 nations game....come on WALES!!!!

29 Jan, 2013

Want to borrow mine? Errr...on second thoughts, I want them in the garden! ;-Z

29 Jan, 2013

I have lots of Daffs in bud on my balcony but none will be opening for a few more weeks yet. I'm looking forward to my Crocuses flowering in 2 or 3 weeks time. They are so cheerful for starting off the year! I grow lots of them every year & could never do without them!

2 Feb, 2013

I have 6 in flower now. :-)))) I'm so glad I planted them.
