I HATE Earwigs! We call them clipshears here!
Thats why I don't have dalhias, I was onge given a gorgeous bunch, but it was full of them! Yeuch! :~{

I think they are fairly hardy Madpert, but not certain! I planted a lovely red one this year . They've been brilliant!
