Alamanda pinched back and tied to climb up the wall..

Alamanda pinched back and tied to climb up the wall.. (Cryptostegia grandiflora)

The rains are simply lashing out at my plants and this one was the worst hit... had to put it together before theres a storm or it would have just succumbed to the gale and the weight of its own flowers...

It still looks terrific!

My Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee' is just starting to bloom. We experienced very rare cold (for San Diego) weather in January and this vine didn't like it! It most likely would be blooming by now.

Here's a photo of my plant:

See... mine loved rain... blooming rampant even without the heat..

It must be hot and humid though, right?

21 Jun, 2013

nope... cold and wet...

What are the high temperatures?

I can't imagine it's cold, because Delonix regia needs a tremendous amount of heat to bloom. :>)

right now... thr highest is round 1pm and thats about 21 degress if its not cloudy.. if its raining and wet then about 18 and very windy

That's so amazing that a Delonix regia can bloom under such cool conditions. They usually need very, very hot conditions to bloom.

the very hot weather here lasts only 3 months March April May.. when the days are as hot as 43 degrees centigrade and nights are about 20..

That's why the Delonix regia bloom so well. You receive the hottest weather in spring...and that's when Delonix regia loves and needs the heat to bloom. :>)

Am glad they are blooming... it'd be a dull look otherwise.

25 Jun, 2013

Yes, I agree. I think it would be dull here if we didn't have so many flowering subtropical/tropical trees/shrubs which bloom all year here in San Diego.
