Very few flowers this year

Hi again Andrew- you'll be sick of me asking for plant advice at this rate! - I have one of these and although I like its narrow upright shape, evergreen narrow leaves etc, it is rarely flowering - any tips?

Mine is next to a narrow conifer which was here when we moved in (shape reminds me of trees in Italy). Although the conifer is not that big, it might be taking all the nutrients/moisture?

Love this tree, NGS visitors always want to know what it is, amazingly ours was loaded with lanterns this year, but, will it be next year?

Sarah - yes, it's probably the conifer sucking up all the goodness and moisture. It comes from Chile where it grows in moist woodland, so a dry position will probably reduce its flowering

That dry position will reduce it's general health and vigour aswell as flowering.
I had one and had to shift it because it was too dry a spot, i've seen several that are sparse and they've all been in a dry position.

Thanks for the advice, just bought a soaker hose but it is not long enough for that border, will need to extend it!
