Clerodendrum quadriloculare - Starbust Plant

Clerodendrum quadriloculare - Starbust Plant (Clerodendrum quadriloculare - Starbust Plant)

My Starburst plant was almost dead last summer due to the severe 6 year drought. I cut it all the way back the main stem and now it has come back nicely this year. It should be moved into more sun because it's never bloomed. Photo taken Oct. 10, 2017.

Its looking really good serviving your 6 year drought Andy I am sure it will do far better getting the sun for it to bloom.

It really needs more sun, though. I need to find a sunnier spot so it can bloom. I've had it for maybe 8 years or so and it's never flowered.

Same here, and it needs MUCH water. I have to move mine again. Its done badly in ground. Its no Clerodendrum bungei that I have seen around Hayward filling whole planting beds.

Penny,

I hope I'll have some place soon to plant it.

Stan,

It's not the easiest plant to grow here. It loves a lot of water and needs quite a bit of direct sun. The ones I've seen on the internet blooming well in South Florida are growing even there in full sun.

You shall have to go around your gaden doing this. ?

If you can't bloom it I'll give it a miss. Shame as I've really been hankering after this for a while.

Meanie:

It's been in this spot for several years. It gets a lot of competition from a huge Ficus cyathistipula and it's shaded from this tree. I must find a good, sunny spot for it so it can flower. This is the reason why I purchased it. It does have very nice leaves which are green above and bright purple below, also.
