Japanese Quince

Japanese Quince (chaenomeles japanese quince)

The first time I ever saw these wonderful plants was when we moved to this town from London in 1966! Then there was a row of houses in front of the cemetery & alongside their bay windows they had these Flowering Quinces growing up the wall on either side. Unfortunately now only one of these houses conserves the original plants I first saw back in 1966. The others have been removed over the years.

Our daughter has a big bush in her back garden with very dark red flowers that are almost black!
