Yes, and it's just one tree.

Beautiful specimen, Delonix. Had to google. Has yours flowered then?

Kate 123:

This tree belongs to a friend of mine in Oakland, I live in San Diego, CA.

This tree is flowering. It will have to be cut down in about 5 years or so, as it is monocarpic.

Thanks Delonix, just looked at your profile.
I read a little on google and it did mention it flowered only once, sadly. It’s so architectural.

Kate 123:

Here's a better pic of very large Caryota gigas at the San Diego Zoo I've posted on GoY. There's several large ones there. Unfortunately, this one is no longer there, anymore.

Thanks Delonix, I had a look at this and your other pics/postings. Fantastic palms and the like! Interesting to read about them too, thanks for sharing.

What are the tree's around it? Nothing he has is commonplace!

The one the left is Tabebuia chrysotricha. I remember back in the mid-90's when it was a small tree, only around 10 ft tall.

Again,I had it. I planted it by the rental cottage and some idiot I renter I had, threw some trash tarp he had over the small tree..killed it by the time I saw what he did.
Its only been the last 4 years I've taken my rare for the bay area plants and put them around that little house. Its only been safe to do it since relatives moved in. For the 25 years before that,it was just Junipers and hedge.
In case people wonder why everything is so packed tightly around my small yards.

Wow! I know it must have been frustrating. I've had my share of idiots destroying my plants. Last year I had a dragon fruit which was almost ripe. When I went to pick it, someone had destroyed it and it smashed on the sidewalk. I was so extremely angry!

No shortage of idiots here either Andy. I had to fire my gardener because he kept destroying my most prized plants and made no effort to compensate me. He thought using the leaf blower on my daffodils was a good idea so that they lay down flat. Then he kept digging up my irises.- the fancy ones I ordered from Ohio and took 3 years to bloom. Then he hacked down my Corel Honeysuckle so the hummingbirds no longer come around This is the guy I paid to look after the garden and keep things tidy. When he trampled my Chrysanthemums and tried to hide it, I had enough - of him!

I had a tenants son who was a thief and his friends. Like it was in his DNA.
Good riddance. Let them prey on the next landlord.
