Bougainvillea

What a beauty.

It was sold as: Bougainvillea 'Orange King' this plant is almost 30 years old. I purchased two and one was put into the ground when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. That one was trained at a large tree. Unfortunately, it had to be left behind when I moved. :>((

Its a gorgeous colour like what you would see in a Japanese garden.
It's really looks good for its age . Bet you are glad you bought two such a shame you had to leave the other one. I do the same with my Acers one in a pot the other in the ground except for my red one.

Thanks. The bracts open up orange color then fade to a light pink. It's a beautiful variety.

It can stay a long time in a pot with not problems. I actually have a smaller one from a cutting of this plant, also. I love big bougainvilleas; however, I don't like the big thorns.

How strange they are orange then change to this lovely colour . Great you have another always wise to have an extra just in case. Yes I can see those thorns they are big are nt they I wonder if the thorns are a protection from some thing.

Yes, many varieties of Bougainvillea change color as the bracts age.

This one doesn't have many thorns. Very large vines, shrubs have huge, long woody thorns which are awful!

Interesting how it changes.

You are lucky then I can imagine others do .

California Gold is an other ones which changes from gold-yellow to pastel pink.
