As Brian says,if I can get it to start filling the pot it will really be impressive. There are some tremendous plants on the A.G.S. and S.R.G.C. sites from their shows.

I'd like to Sheila.I haven't had the facilities really to keep plants in good condition. Now I have my covered bench, that should help.

I was show champion a couple of times of our local village show but I have not tried the srgc shows yet. I am aware the standard is likely to be much higher than any competition I have entered previously. It would be fun and add to my alpine education.

It's so nice to rub shoulders with you knowledgeable folk.
I'm hoping it rubs off on me. Lol.

There are novice sections we can start in before trying to take on the big boys.

Keep following Mouldy. One of my mums favourite sayings was you learn in tiny steps, most of the time. I am a newbie having only joined the SRGC at Gardening Scotland last year. There is no shortage of encouragement from other members. The same on GOY members are great at helping each other when we struggle.

Personally, I reckon you guys could give the big boys a run for their money, joking apart.
Was listening to Gardeners Question Time on radio 4 a couple of weeks ago.
There was a query of why stones kept turning up in a woman's garden, even though she removed as many as she & her OH could find on a yearly basis.
Here's where the panel explain about the effects of frost & the advantages of drainage, I thought.
The panel had no explanation. All they did was make jokes.
I was gobsmacked, particularly as I know they are primed with the questions beforehand!
Yes, they're experts, but they didn't do their research, or put up their hands.
A wee bit of the glamour & glitter has gone for me. Sob!
Still, I've only been listening to the programme since late Jan, so I'll gve them a second chance. Lol.

Only 1 out of ten for trying then.

On that occasion I'm afraid so.
They're usual good with explananations, as those asking the questions verify.
Probably just a one off, but I hope, during the joking, each of them asked themselves why they've never thought to look into what I'd say is a regular (I was going to say common or garden. Lol) problem.
Farmers & foresters know the problem & the source. I just assumed expert gardeners were the same.
Listen to me...been at the gardening lark for five minutes & think I know it all. Lol.
