This very large old Baobab tree was in Foster's Botanical Garden in Honolulu, HI. This tree was planted in 1940. Photo taken August 5, 2009.

why???? not the best of names for such a majestic tree....

The tree is called the dead rat tree because the way the fruits hang on the tree...they resemble dead rats.

I also stated this tree is old. At 69 years...it's actually a young tree even though it's massive...they live for well over a thousand years.

Yes, this tree is quite tall however, the trunk grows to such a massive circumference. Check some out on the internet, you'll see what I mean. The trunk is like a huge
water tank...because they do store hundreds of gallons of water.
