Wow!!

It's a very slow growing tree and bears lots of cones throuout the year. The seed scales gradually peal away and you are left with a stem like the centre of a cotton bobbin. If you look to the left of the branch beside the cones you will see what I mean. Just a pity they are gone by christmas. It's about 5' tall now and it's 9 yrs old.

Thankyou everyone. I have always loved this tree. It's branches are covered in lovely soft to touch leaves (I don't know what else to call them) We trim it up every Christmas with lights and baubles and we can see it through the lounge window.

Thanks Sixpence, Scottish and Sl, I had it in a pot for about 5 years and brought it inside for 3 weeks every Christmas time but it wasn't too happy, getting pot bound, so I planted it in the garden where we could see it through the window. It took us ages to free it from the pot.....

We grew this beautiful tree, it is an Abies Koreana (Blue Spruce), but it grew too large so had to take it out, we now have a bonsai from one of it's seedlings, it is a most fantastic tree with the perfect shape, lovely.
