One of the best known members of this genus is the invasive common bindweed but some of the 250 species of annuals, perennials and shrubs have great value in the garden.

The term morning glory is used for some convolvulus plants including c. tricolour, whose bright blue blooms are said to flower for only one day, but it is also the common name for 1000 other flowering plants too!

Flowers are found in blue, white, pink and purple often with contrasting or deeper centres and are funnel- or trumpet-shaped. Many varieties are sweetly scented and very attractive to insects.
