Eupatorium

Eupatorium

I don't know if you can spot them, but I counted SIX Peacock butterflies on this plant this afternoon!

Pleased the butterflies love this plant Spirtz. You've solved a plant identification for me. When I was walking Bonnie yesterday along the canal I 'acquired' a root of this plant, lol. I didnt know what it was but it looked so nice and feel its good to help it multiply :-)

I like the pic Spritz but isn't it flowering a bit early?

No - this one always flowers at this time of year. I have three clumps - two are the native plant type, and this one is slightly different - the stems are black. I think it may be a cultivar.

I've also got Eupatorium rugosum 'Chocolate' which doesn't flower until later. That has little white flowers.

Good luck, Dawn! It is a spreader, the 'wild' one...be warned!

Thanks, Morgana.

Toto - I've checked the Eupatoriums out, and yes, yours is slightly different. I seem to have two different ones, very similar to yours - one is a native plant and the other is native to the USA so it's a cultivated plant here. I'm going to post photos of the two.

Thanks Spritz.
