Rhododendron garden

How big do you think these are?

Very big?

11 May, 2009

Big!, certainly have the wow factor.

11 May, 2009

Sensational.

12 May, 2009

Are these in your own garden? Very impressive! Bet Cat likes these!

12 May, 2009

Gosh! They must be very old rhodos. They are beautiful.

12 May, 2009

Thanks for your comments - this photo was taken at a National Trust property. There is a gardenining friend in the photo. If you find the GF you will have a good clue as to the size of the rhodis which have 5 acres dedicated to them.

Princess Weeds - Queen Catfinch found the long walk through the blue bells in the woods by the sea shore somewhat longer than expected. I think her majesty is more accustomed to travelling in a monster 4 x 4.

Princess Gilli - This rhododendrum garden was established in 1937. Some of the trees are over 80 years old.

12 May, 2009

I can't see a gardening friend in this photo GF....... :o(

13 May, 2009

Princess Gilli - I can see a GF in this photo - she is a gardening friend well known to you. It might be because she is standing up in this photo that you do not recognise her!

13 May, 2009

Sir Turnip.....methinks you are pulling my leg.....I even put on my glasses and looked closely.....where on earth is Queen Catfish???

14 May, 2009

Is that the top of Catfinch's silvery noggin I see in the middle? If it is, she doesn't look tired...LOL (she is after all still standing.)
I didn't know Rhodies got this big.

Take it easy with my sisty, she needs a few days to adapt to your cross-country jaunts. I know that she was beyond weary when she left her home.

16 May, 2009

That could be the top of her head Weedy but we only have Sir Turnip's word for it. I think he may have infected our Cat with his "headless photo" disease.

16 May, 2009

Princess Weeds - Well done spotting the noggin. My Queen sat down shortly after this photo was taken, refusing to go any further. I wandered on admiring the rhodies and was soon rejoined.

Princess Gilli - You know now where Queen Catfinch is in the picture but where on earth do you think this bodyless photo was taken?

17 May, 2009

In the garden of the National Trust property, of course. You mean you can't remember?....Oh, Sir Turnip.....you really should write things down.

17 May, 2009

So much to see. Beauty and history and castles...and, oh my, also her favorite...the Bear of the Bluebell Woods. Her eyes must be tired from taking it all in. LOL

17 May, 2009

Ah yes the Bear of the Blue Bell Woods indeed...lol...very nice to see...umhuh...I am wanting him to come back to the US with me..for a bit while I finish up some things there on the house, he is a bit timid of leaving his woods...we will see ...lol...I do think he would enjoy the peace of my area while he is there more than he realizes...

19 May, 2009

Chat amongst yourselves about the bear if you like! This rhododendron garden is in a National Trust property called Plas Newydd at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch It is the longest officially recognized place name in the UK The name is Welsh for "St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the rapid whirlpool and the church of St. Tysilio of the red cave". . It is located on the island of Anglesy which is just off the coast from Bangor in North Wales. This trip inspired us to buy five more rhododendrons for my garden. I thought the nicest colour I saw in the garden centres was a variety called Nova Zembla. On the front of the label it said height 3-4 feet. On the back it says 7 feet. I bought two rhodis at Bodnant Gardens because of the foliage colour:- Clipinese F.C.C. and Hummingbird. They are both Bodnant hybrids. Bodnant is a National Trust property in the Conwy valley North Wales. Now for the hard part - choosing the best locations for them.

19 May, 2009

Washington coast is a good location for growing Rhodos......hmmmmm!!!! LOL

20 May, 2009

We went to the Rhody garden on Whidbey Island on Friday. I had no idea how many varieties there are. Some were dropping petals, but most were still in their prime. I'm not familiar with the names, what colors will yours be, GF? Do they grow wild there? They line the highways on Whidbey.

Say what? Can you actually pronounce that name?

Yes Cat, I think Sir Bear should come see our side of the world.

24 May, 2009

Princess Weeds - Purple, magenta, pink, yellow, orange and red.

Mine dont grow wild but purple rhodis are a big problem in some parts of the Snowdonia National Park. They have even arranged Rhodi bashing events.

I can pronounce the name but I do struggle with Welsh pronuciation.

Sir Bear would like to visit your side of the world idc.

4 Jun, 2009

Princess Gilli - Do you have Rhodis in BC? Perhaps you can take a photo of one to share with us when it stops snowing.

4 Jun, 2009

Sir Bear...what is idc?..not anything like...stp..I presume...hmmmm?

4 Jun, 2009

Idc - in due course - is not like stp - sticky toffee pudding. SBOC.

5 Jun, 2009

I know..I know ...lol...Sir Bear Of Cats.....lol

5 Jun, 2009

Rhodos in BC??? Tons of them. They grow really well down on the coast and on the island. We don't have too many up here as there are several strikes against them.....our soil is too alkaline, it is too dry and the winters are generally too cold. :o(

6 Jun, 2009

Do you try to grow them with the acid compost etc. Gilli...my mother used to grow her one she had...only one..but it did great..she always put her coffee grounds and grapefruit skins around it..I never didn't understand what she was doing as a child..lol..thought she was a bit silly...but now I get it..lol. Living in the shadow of a volcano gives very alkaline soil too..Mt. St. Helens was close by where we lived in my younger years. Took me a while to get used to the soil here... acid..much like the soil in Wales.

6 Jun, 2009

I haven't bothered trying to grow them here Cat. The neighbour has a very spindley, weak and unhappy looking one. It hardly has any flowers. He almost lost it this past winter. It's looking sicker than usual right now. LOL

8 Jun, 2009

Mine too, Gilli. Sicker this year, that is, but I'm not giving up yet. Sides, I think spindly is lovely...god knows I never see it in the mirror. LOL

9 Jun, 2009

LOL :o)

9 Jun, 2009

Choke...cack-cack..was just biting into my tuna fish sandwich when I read that Sisty....lol...almost choked not to mention I am on with GF while reading it as well...LOL...don't see it in the mirror...LOL....oh my..too funny...well..me either...lol...

Beautiful picture I love Rhododendrons

5 Nov, 2009

Well thank you Morgana for you compliment on my photo. So you like Rhododendrons - would you therefore like to see some more photos of this National Trust property and further Rhododendrons then? Is your name real or a psuedonym derived from Arthurian legend perhaps?

6 Nov, 2009

I chose Morgana as both my parents are Welsh I use to fortune tell for free, use to have mini busses come to have their fortunes told, mainly from the Jauguar works, I did have a visit from the managing director of the company not for fortune telling just to meet me, use to chat on a cb every morning and night to him .

As things move in my home and strange things happen, they use to call me a witch hence the name Morgana.

6 Nov, 2009

I would be intersted in meeting you one day Morgana...you have some strong energy with in you... :o) ~Cat

6 Nov, 2009

That is a very interesting explanation. I will be extremely careful in what I say in respect of a great all knowing sourceress named Morgana. (in respect meant in both senses).

Did you know that someone using the name Merlin joined GOY on 31 January 2009 but immediately mysteriously disappeared?

Magical things keep happening in my garden in Wales principally because I keep moving everthing. Some members keep calling me a wizzard but alas not for my gardening.

I feel impelled to post some rhododendron pictures in due course for your pleasure.

Gardenfriendly Regards

6 Nov, 2009

Thank you Gardeningfriend I will look forward to seeing them :o)

Thank you Catfinch no where near now as I use to, I believe every one has this, some stronger than others, its knowing how to use it, You see we are all generators, of electric in our bodies, which is power, our aura which surrounds us our natural insticts which as we get older we lose, as we rely upon lazyness taught to us by others or classed as evil lol. If only they channeled it through the third eye .

Womans instinct, men have this too, that is why they make better business men than woman as woman question it, men act upon it. Martial arts with weapons woman are far more superior to men on this. I believe when children are upset and some thing is worrying them, their energy builds in anger or frustration so their energy comes out differently as they are not in control because the mind is not devloped enough, so I believe they think, meditate, which I believe creates what poeople class as a poltiguest. I have studied this for years, every poltiguest, there has been a troubled mind with in the home.

7 Nov, 2009

Interesting Morgana..have never experienced such things..but I do believe everything has an energy field and every energy affects another..plants and inanimate objects too..Blessed Be...Morgana...~Cat

7 Nov, 2009

Thank you Catfinch, I am glad I am not the only one who thinks the same about energy fields, I do believe when properties are what they class as haunted too, if some one who s died there can leave a presence, energy behind.

7 Nov, 2009

We leave energy where ever we go no matter whether we are in this body or not. Seems a fact of life to me...

7 Nov, 2009

Yes it seems so :o)

8 Nov, 2009

:o)

8 Nov, 2009

Morgana - Today I will be publishing my blog on Plas Newydd where this photo was taken. There are a few more rhododendron photos there.

15 Nov, 2009

Thank you Gardeninfriend will go and look now thanks for letting me know.

15 Nov, 2009

Morgana, very interesting. Physics says "Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change forms." Thoughts are electrical energy that cannot be created or destroyed. The energy of other's thoughts are there for all of us to call on. Fascinating subject.

16 Nov, 2009

I know energy from the mind can be channeled, I have done not only in foretune telling, I use to stare at peoples heads, to fortune tell, a consantration if you like, to extract magnetise from their minds, and could make them do things I wanted them to do, so you are aware of Odyle then.:o)

16 Nov, 2009

Sorry, I don't think so. What is Odyle?

16 Nov, 2009

Odyle is what makes the moon shine, it is also a chemicle which is stored in the celebrium at the back of the neck in the brain, an unbalance of this casues insainity, also is which makes graves glow , when some one has just been buried being mistaken for a ghost as the chemicle changes when dead. Hence when there is a full moon, it draws the brain with the fluid to the top of the skull and this is where some it effects hence full moon mad mans night.

16 Nov, 2009

Oh my..Morgana...I am interested now..have heard so much about full moons..but I thought the moons brightness came from the sun?

Hi Sisty..glad to see you back too..this is a very interesting discussion.

16 Nov, 2009

http://www.answers.com/topic/baron-karl-von-reichenbach This is the man who discovered and stated about what Odyle does, perhaps you could find more, about him on the net. I have a book about this more information than this link.

16 Nov, 2009

ok thanks Morgana

16 Nov, 2009

Your welcome Catfinch

16 Nov, 2009

First time I've heard any of this, Morgana. I will take a look...Universal life force, sounds interesting. Seems to fit with physics doesn't it? Not sure about the the rest but I'll keep an open mind.

Hi, Cat, nice to be back!
