Hi M... Pennisetum setaceum 'Sky Rocket'....needs proctecting in Winter...will bring them under cover, as I want to take cuttings from the Zonals which I can't do at the mo, they're flowering/budding like mad...

They are lovely, I like the idea of the grasses in the baskets too.

I'd never thought of putting grasses in baskets, Sue, but these look wonderful. Great way to use Pennisetum too . . . might copy you next year. :)

Enjoying collecting seed today (Stipa arundinacea and Delphiniums) - means I can play in the greenhouse!

Thanks Cristina...I shall have to bring them under cover, as I want to keep the Zonals too, and take cuttings, so I'll do my best to keep them...sorry you lost yours...

Yes thanks Homebird..they've turned out really well, I love to watch the Grass fronds swaying to & fro...:))

I think if I do it again Homebird I will use half the Grass, in each, it will give it more room to grow into...The Zonals were big when I bought them, so had to plant around the top, but my ideal would be to plant the sides too, to really cover the baskets, better effect I think...

Hi Shazza,

You're more than welcome...It came about as a happy accident..and one of the Ladies in my Village has the Pic as her Wallpaper to her computer screen...also.

What I would suggest, is to halve the Grass, that forms the centre piece to give it more room to grow, and if you can plant around the sides with Zonals or whatever you choose, it will give a better effect..I have grown many Zonals from last years plants, so they will be smaller when I start the baskets this year, and the baskets will be more full.
Last year both Zonals and Grasses were full grown plants, so just made top planting...turned out nice, but could be nicer...Good luck, I'll look forward to your pics
