Great idea - was it easy to construct and what materials have you used?

Is that a fruit cage, Jeansusan? Or a cage to keep the pigeons from you brassicas? It looks quite sturdy! How long ago did you get your allotment?

Hi Floramckic and Balcony ,our fruit cage was built by Pete my husband with wood my brother gave him so we just bought wire/mess,there was clay soil in that area so thats why he made it so big.
We had been on a waiting list for three years before we got our allotment in november ,just in time as Pete and I retired at Christmas .

It came at just the right time then!

I haven't been down to the allotment since Monday as I have caught a cold & have been feeling very much "under the weather". Today I had a lot of cough though it seems to be getting better now. Nearly 10pm. I don't think I will be going down before Friday or Saturday.

On Monday Gerry & I put up the greenhouse frame but a few more days will have to go by before we can put in any glass.

I've already made a start on my next blog update on the allotment but it won't be posted for another week. I want to include some recent photos that I won't get before next week!

Hi Balcony
Sorry to hear you are not feeling well.Pete went yesterday and did some weeding but I was at on a trip to the seaside with the littles ones at school .
He says things had grown alot .My hanging baskets that are full of tumbleing tomotoes are really coming on since all the rain ,at least it saves watering everthing .
Wishing you a speedy recovery ,looking forward to seeing your photos

Thanks very much, Jean! I'm getting better as my cough is a lot better but I'm having to blow my nose more frequently!

It seems we had a drop or two overnight but nothing to get excited about. LOL! I still haven't been to the allotment. The morning was quite cool & very overcast. Eventually in the afternoon the sky gradually cleared & the sun was able to get out & we ended the day with a lovely clear sky!
