Barrel cactus is very hardy, however, they don't like wet and cold weather.

My one got damp, and it rotted.... we live and learn hey. That's what gardening is all about.

Louis:

Live and learn...that's very true.

In San Diego County we have a few native barrel cacti species...they grow at the higher elevations in the desert.

I do have some Agarves, and a couple of cacti, as well as a few other succulents. They are small, but I'm goning to give it another go. The thing with gardening, is never give up, just keep on trying. I might post my succulents.
