This New Guinea Impatiens plant has been here for at least 4 years and is more than 3 feet/ 1 meter tall...not sure how long they live...however, it seems to love this semi-shady spot in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. Photo taken May 27, 2010.

Thanks for the information! : > ) More 7 years is a long life for New Guinea Impatiens.
When I used to grow them...I used to keep them for 3 years then would throw them out. I'll have to plant some this year as fillers and color.

They're beautiful. At my last home, my New Guineas lasted over 7 years ... they got fed and trimmed regularly and were very happy in their shady spot.
