Cruising to Tenerife and Madeira

We recently set off for some late summer sun, onboard Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas.

This photo was taken at 9am on the sunday morning in Madeira and it was only just getting light. Both destinations were on the same time zone as uk.

Getting to the ship isn’t always the easiest thing so after a 5hr bus ride overnight Cardiff to Gatwick, 4 hrs waiting around the airport, a 2hr flight, waiting for luggage and a 20 min bus ride we found ourselves at the ship. It took another long wait standing around to check in before we could board. By this time my feet and legs to the knees were swollen and I was ‘knackered’
So I couldn’t believe I looked this good.

We soon settled into our suite and one long round of eating and entertainment. We managed to sleep well too.
Day 2 was spent at sea but we found something to do. Nearest I could find to a garden. In the evening it was formal dinner time and meet the Captain.

On Day3 we arrived in Tenerife before dawn and were up early to go to ‘The Pyramids of Guimar’

It was then I got chance to take photos of some flowers.
As usual feel free to name them for me I will number the photos.
1)

2)

3) I think this is a baby palm tree.

There were bananas growing everywhere in Tenerife and Madeira.

It looks like the desert here.

We left the pyramids and drove up into the mountains, up and up and round and round. We’re on top of the world here up above the clouds.

Then it was up into the forest would have been nice to go walking there.

This was the highest mountain on Tenerife. Mount Teide.

Back to the ship for dinner and a rest and to get ready for another day. This was Nanette our lovely waitress from the Philippenes.

Day 4 Madeira.
The coaches were arriving at dawn ready to whisk away for another whistle stop tour.

Some of the beautiful scenery and we went up and up and round and round all over again. Good job we don’t mind heights.

4) Some kind of Aster or Daisy?

5) ?

6) African Marigold?

This was a private garden where they held Cheese and Wine Tastings it was beautiful there. The cheese was lovely and also the wine, it was wine as we know it not the sherry type Madeiran wine we’ve all heard of. I’m actually a bit of a sherry fan.

7) ?

8) The Bird of Paradise flower Madeira is famous for.

This was us at the wine tasting.

There were these little lizards everywhere in Tenerife and Madeira.

They like drinking yoghurt maybe it’s good for the digestion. I love the way he’s got it all over himself. Yes I did ask him if he was a boy or a girl.

We saw this ship from our balcony and when a friend saw the photo she said she’d been on the ship the previous year. A small world.

And then it was time to go back to Malaga and the long road home to Wales and autumn weather,So I’ve only one thing left to say ‘Time for Bed’

Loved it. I'm glad you included the wonderful coastal view, and especially the lizards. No. 5 is amazing - flowers inside flowers.
