Dense compact growth with a fullness of tiny flowers all summer. A beautiful combination of purple, blue, red and white. Benefits from moist compost to encourage an abundance of flowers.

Lobelia erinus has long been a popular edging plant for summer borders, providing a neat hump of bright blue, often with reddish-tinged stems and leaves, throughout the summer. With the increasing popularity of hanging baskets and patio pots, new pendent varieties have become the mainstay of these summer containers, and these can trail for over a foot.

As well as royal blue, Lobelia is now commonly found in all shades of blue, and from pink to deep red, as well as white.

For best results transplant plugs immediately into chosen container using multi-purpose compost.Plugs will benefit from early transplanting.
Should transplanting be delayed open top of container and place in a light position avoiding direct sunlight.
Do not allow to dry out. Add the gel supplied in the punnet to the compost to assist water retention.
The plants will require a warm windowsill with good natural light for growing on.

Established plants can be placed outside when all risk of frost has passed.on

The seedlings are very small, so it is easier to transplant them in small clumps rather than individually, which also makes it easier to produce a multi-coloured display.
