Bought 04.08 Woolworths £2.99 for pack of 10 corms

flowers are produced on flower stalks from July to September amongst thin, linear green leaves, produces plenty of blooms which make excellent cut-flowers. Though gladioli are usually grown only for this purpose they do look stunning planted in a mixed border as an eye-catching display late in the season. Or why not do as Sarah Raven doe s and plant them in rows in the vegetable plot!

Lighten heavy clay soils with well-rotted manure or compost. Plant each corm on a layer of sand to improve drainage.
