Most kinds of Cistus grow wild on rocky sun-baked Mediterranean hillsides, hence their common name, and similar conditions in the garden will guarantee success. In cool districts with frosty winters, the ends of the shoots are often damaged and need trimming in spring. Their ideal position is in a sunny, warm and sheltered spot. Alternatively grow plants in containers that may be brought under cover in winter. 'Peggy Sammons' is a vigorous, upright plant, excellent against a terrace wall, with large flowers in a clean, delicate shade of pink, in clusters. The Royal Horticultural Society have given it their Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
